The Winter Solstice celebrates nature’s cycle and rhythm, and in the north it is the day of the year with the fewest hours of daylight. While it may be celebrated all across the world, the main celebration area takes place in one of the fortresses in the Hallowed Mountains, ruled by Wyrms. The fortress is decorated with all kinds of lights, lanterns and candles, as well as wintery holiday treats and ornaments. The area is surrounded by tall snow-covered mountains, many of them having an arched or hollow shape. Deeper in the mountains you can find large caverns covered in gems and crystals, and the mountains are surrounded by boreal forests, lakes and fjords. Anyone is welcome to enter, regardless of where your characters live. Perhaps they travel to the main celebration fortress or maybe they stay at home and await the winter stags. Or maybe your character lives in an entirely different world. All event categories have open-ended prompts which allows any Veilhorn to enter!
Event categories:
First Snow
The snow has started to fall, settling over trees and rooftops and cloaking the world in a glistening blanket. Has your character seen snow before or is this the first time? Show or describe how your Veilhorn experiences this season’s snow, whether it’s their first snowfall ever, a familiar winter tradition, or show what winter looks like at their home.

During the winter, northern lights can be seen dancing as colorful ribbons of light across the nightsky. In the northern areas this is a natural phenomenon, and in the south it is accomplished through magic by Veilhorns shooting bright streaks of magical light up into the dark night sky together. Does your character participate in this tradition? Show or describe your Veilhorn in a northern lights setting or creating their own northern lights in the colors of their Elemental Alignment.

A flight of greedy dragons have stolen all the holiday ornaments and lights and are hoarding them in their castle high up on the mountain tops. What does your character do? Every year the great stags of winter are carved or sculpted from pure ice during the start of the event, imbued with frost and life magic, and set free to spread the winter across Veilheim. These stags can be anywhere between the size of a pony to several meters tall. They leave behind trails of ice and snow, and many Veilhorn run along with them for a little while if they encounter one. Some stags move with a noble and majestic presence while others are playful and invite for a friendly sparring or game of chase. As the stags journeys conclude after covering the land in winter and snow, they shed their antlers into magic frost-crystals that are used to forge powerful and sacred weapons, armor, and ornaments, all enchanted with frost magic. How does your character interact with this tradition? Show or describe your Veilhorn taking part in either the carving of the winter stags, watching or accompanying their journey, sparring or playing with one, or collecting the sacred ice crystals.
