XP & Stat points
All art, literature, and roleplay posts you make of your (or someone else's) characters count for experience points (XP) and reward Silver coins
. XP is earned by each featured character, while Silver is earned by the artist (or split evenly among contributors if more than one created the piece).
Silver coin rewards
You earn 50
for each XP point your submission gains.
For example, a submission worth 5 XP would earn 250
.
If multiple characters are featured, only the character who earns the highest XP will be used to calculate your Silver Coin reward.
You also earn an additional 30
for every featured character.
Silver coin earnings are split evenly among all contributors on a submission.
Experience points (XP)
The amount of XP earned depends on how much effort you spent on the submission. Currently literature and roleplay post XP gains are based on word count.
In order for art submission to count for XP, they must depict the character properly (colored and/or showing the markings correctly*), unfinished sketches do not count for XP but you are welcome and encouraged to share your WIPs in the discord instead! Consider submissions to the website to be the final, finished version of your art.
*Design fidelity
The design should depict the featured character properly, but simplification is allowed. Site staff is not going to count the spots of your leopard appaloosa or police that any dun stripes must be placed pixel perfectly according to their design. As long as it's recognized as the character you're featuring it's valid for XP points.
When bringing existing characters into Veilhorn, if their design had to be changed to fit Veilhorn genetics then you may need to adjust any old submission of it for them to count for XP.
Human/anthro AU
AU (Alternate Universe) artwork (such as depicting a character as human or as a different species) is fully eligible for XP as long as the character remains recognizable and their core design, colors, and patterns stay consistent with the original.
AU pieces are not treated as shapeshifting spell usage unless the intention is that the character is using a spell to alter its form. Drawing how the character would look as a human or another species does not qualify for Arcana stat gains, and Arcana should only be earned if a spell is actually being cast. AU artwork can still feature spells, but a character being drawn in a different form alone does not automatically qualify as spellcasting.
Reused art
Reused art refers to any art or asset/part of art that has been used in more than one submission or for more than one character. This can for example be YHHs or YCHs that were recolored more than once, using the same lineart more than once or using F2U/P2U linearts that anyone else may also have used, using the same background for more than one artwork, or duplicating part of an artwork across multiple submissions. You can still submit it, but it must be marked as reused and will be worth 0 XP. Photographs and photomanips count as reused, and their photographers must be credited.
Submitting old artwork or artwork from your other art/arpg sites is completely fine and should not be marked as reused as long as it was originally made for a single submission of the character(s) featured.
If multiple characters are featured in the same artwork, you should not mark the background as reused for the additional characters. Only if the background itself is used in more than one artwork should it be marked as reused.
Art base: How much of the character is shown in the submission.
- Portrait: Only the head or face, or another body part roughly the same size as the head.
- Bust: Partial body, for example showing half the character but more than a portrait.
- Fullbody: The entire character is visible in the submission.
- Reused: The artwork was reused, for example a re-colored YCH/YHH that was made of more than one character, or a reused lineart.
Shading: Shading can be in any style, for example cell-shading, smooth/blended shading, realistic rendering, and so on. Highlights count as shading.
- None: No shading, the character is flat colored.
- Simple: Sketched, minimal or partial shading or highlighting to suggest light and/or shadow but without being detailed or spending too much effort on it.
- Complex: The entire character is shaded and/or highlighted, shadows and/or highlights define forms. The intent is to give the piece a fully rendered appearance.
- Reused: The artwork was reused, for example a re-colored YCH/YHH that was made of more than one character.
Background: The complexity and level of details in the background.
- None: Transparent, flat color, or simple gradient (no elements or details).

Two-color gradient

Flat-colored
- Simple: A simple background with some decorative elements or textures but not showing a full scene.

Simple clouds and stars

Simple background texture
- Complex: A full scene showing the character's surroundings with foreground and background, showing different elements and details.

Complete forest background

While not showing many land details, still shows multiple elements and is more complex than "simple".

Complete canyon background
- Reused: The artwork was reused, for example a re-colored YCH/YHH that was made of more than one character, or a background image that was used for more than one submission.

Literature/writing and Roleplay posts
1 XP per 200 words
The character needs to be active in the entire story to be eligible for XP.
If a character is just appearing briefly or is mentioned, it should not be tagged in the submission.
Stats and class bonuses
Characters will earn stats for any activities featured in art/literature and roleplay posts. This is currently a flat stat gain per submission regardless of how much XP the submission counted for.
When you submit art/literature or roleplay posts you should select the activity that best fits what is happening in your submission, or select "none" if the submission contains none.
Might: Physical combat. Fighting or sparring with other characters, NPCs, creatures, monsters and bosses.
Dexterity: Most physical activities except combat. Including (but not limited to) running, climbing, jumping, flying*, dancing. Traditional equestrian disciplines also fall under this category.
* Spell-based flying (mage-wings or air spells) that are performed using magic spells and not physical wings count for Arcana instead.
Arcana: Spellcasting. Any use of magical spells, casting known spells or practicing new ones. Anything between spell-based combat and casual use of spells for everyday business.
Charisma: Social interactions, both positive and negative. Persuasion, deception, intimidation, inspiration, charm, etc. Regular dialogue can count for Charisma if the intent of the interaction is meaningful, such as influencing or connecting with another character, rather than brief or casual exchanges (this is open for interpretation for you).
Stat gain
The base stat gain for an activity is 2, with a 50% class bonus if the character's class specializes in that stat.
For example, if a Warrior character is doing an activity that rewards might they would gain 3 might instead of 2.
Class bonuses
- Warrior: might
- Strider: dexterity
- Mystic: arcana
- Luminary: charisma
