Veilhorn Steed

About the breed

Veilhorn are a breed of unicorn, which comes in many different builds - known as bloodlines. Although the bloodlines are visually different, they all have magic in common, are able to cast magic spells and can even alter their appearance using something called "veiling" to obscure or hide their magical features.

Veil

Magic is innate to Veilhorn and they have the ability to "veil" their magical features at will - such as horns, mutations, unnatural colors, and more - hiding them to blend in with non-magical creatures.

Veilhorns of different bloodlines can veil their tail to appear as a normal horse tail. The bloodline is considered the true form, which means you cannot for example add wings on a character without Seraph mutation, or add a non-horse tail on a Veilhorn of Deneb bloodline

It is entirely up to you as the owner of your characters to decide how and when they use veil, and if it comes natural to them or if they have yet to master it. It is also up to you to decide "how much" your character veils their magical features, there's no rule specifying which features have to be hidden and you can leave some features up while hiding others. The only thing that cannot be veiled is their base colors, patterns, and markings, these must stay the same in order for the character to earn xp.

Veiled features can optionally be replaced by subtle markings that represent them - for example a small white star where the horn(s) used to be, wing-like tattoos instead of wings, and so on.

Characters earn the same amount of XP and stats regardless if they're portrayed as veiled or not, as long as the depictions are still recognizable as the same character and the colors/markings of the base design match.
