Veilhorn Steed

A new start

Zeke felt the wind in his fur, how it played between the strands of fur covering his body. His nostrils flared, hooves heavy on the ground underneath him. Alongside his hip, a net made of rope was attached to the right side, small satchels attached to the net. Safely securing the seeds for the mission he was on. He ran, quickly, heavily and his breaths got deeper as the air changed when he came closer. The smell of ash, of the dust filling his nose, the heavier air… He shivered before he finally came to a stop on the hill that towered above his destination.

His head lowered as he watch The Scar underneath and in front of him. The dust tickled his nosetrils, and the sight of the wasteland, the ruins, the hollow burned trees, ashes and dust, it had the skin under his fur prickle. A sadness welling over him to see the land like this. It was not right, not right for the nature or for the species living here, or, had lived here. Many had needed to evacuate, but they worked on fixing it and that's why he was here. To help the Druids to get this place into bloom again. To help species that once lived here to be able to live here again, to continue their lives. To build them up again.

He snorted, before he started to walk down the hill, a slower peace than before, feeling the dirt and dust under his hooves, frowning. It was not like it helped his nose when he got down more, but eventually he was on flat ground, walking amongst the burnt trees, his gusts clenched and twisted. A sorrow filling him and the fur along his spine on edge some.

It took him abit, before he reached his destination, the one he had marked last time with a seed from a blue glowing tree and it made him happy to see it had grown to a little sapling. That it had some of the glowing leaves out on the small branches. He smiled, and made a low humming sound of approval as a slight glow left him to swirl around the little sapling and it almost looked like his magic and the sapling was dancing together. A sparkling dislike glow entered the sapling, the leaves and it went down in the solid and down to the roots. The whole plant for a moment shone in a mixed shin between yellowish and blue and it sent a different kind of calm through Zeke's whole body.

For a while, he stood there, still and eyes half closing. Just enjoying the moment before the magic settled and went away. His head then lifted as he started to walk again, moving to the little place he had scouted previously, were he wanted to add more of the saplings, to start growing a little hideout, an arch of them that would be a nice entry for where the new little medical place for the creatures would be built.

He exhaled deeply, before he grinned. Showing a bit of fangs as he did. ’’Come on little friends, time to get to work’’ . He shook his body some, like he tried to wake something and the satchels came to open themselves as small seeds started to come out of them. Levitating in the air as they collected in front of him, that same sparkling glow of yellow around them and his head tilted, eyes sparkling with excitement before he turned and inclined his head in a half circle, almost the same shape as a crescent moon and he watched the seeds follow his movements. He kept adjusting and tilting his head until he was pleased, then he reached his head back to get the shovel he had attached to the net between his teeth. Pulling it free before moving in under the first seed. He lowered down on his front knees, using the shovel he held in his mouth as he started to dig, then he moved on to dig under the next one and the next and so on. As he moved on to the next, the previous seed came down into the hole he had dug before some of his magic filled the hole with the soil at the edge. He didn’t know how long he continued for, but he did it until it was done and then stepped back.

Zeke reached back with his head to attach the shovel to the net again before looking on what he had done. All he needed now was water, which was quite perfect with the circumstances. His head lifted as he sniffed the air, ears twitching and he grinned. ’’I have sensed your presence since a while back, you could just have came forward and helped me, Archen’’ he said and looked over his own shoulder. Seeing the colorful horse step forward from where he had been standing, not that there were a lot of places to hide here, especially not when you are a colorbomb like Archen.

’’Of course you sensed be early, I wouldn’t expect anything else’’ he snorted and his wings folded along his body. ’’I rather let you do the digging and planting, it didn't really look like you needed my help and you seemed quite peaceful. I wanted you to have your moment’’ he said and walked closer, yet kept his distance. Knowing the other one didn’t really like close contact from anyone but his partner.

Zeke frowned, but also smiled. He hadn’t minded it at all, liking to do this, to do it for nature and the creatures that eventually would come back again. ’’Well, as you are here, would you mind watering them for me? Give me a break from my hard work?’’ he said with a grin before walking up to Archen. Bumping the side of his chest to Archens and chuckling as he walked behind him, to wait for him to do his part of the magic.

Archen grunted, ’’Do I look like a servant or something?’’ he said, with a grumpy annoyed tone. But, he knew that Zeke knew he would do it, one hundred percent he knew that. He shook his body, tightened his wings as his horns started to glow some. Something looking like a cloud, but made out of water formed in front of him. Gently he guided it to go over where Zeke had planted the seeds. One at the time as it started to rain when it was above the spots, staying for a bit before moving to the next one. Archen was making sure they got more than enough water, making sure they would grow and secretly planning to come and water them and the older sapling now and then, to give Zeke a helping hand. After all, he had helped others a lot, he was very appreciated and he deserved to get some of the kindness back that he gave to others. Once done, he glanced back, seeing Zeke busy with the older sapling and he smirked. Turning around, the water cloud followed. Gently he moved it, to go above Zeke and the sapling before raining down on them.

Zeke's ears laid flat back when he felt the water, head jerking up with a snort as his head turned to Archen. ’’Hey! it was the seeds not me, you maniac!’’ but he saw it was already too late. Archen's wings was to their full length as he had taken of to the skies, only hearing him call back ’’See you next time!’’.

His head shook, not surprised. Archen acted all grumpy, serious and angry. But there for sure was a crazy, joking maniac on the inside. Even if they did not always share the same view of laws and how to handle them, Zeke liked him. He smiled some, ’’Have a safe flight!’’ he called back before he was all out of hearing reach. Wanted to wish him that, knowing just because you are in the air, it ain't one hundred percent safe. His attention then came back to the sapling. Head lowering to touch it gently with his muzzle. ’’And you little friend, you take care, till next time’’. His head rose again, letting out a deep and loud neigh. Feeling the wind that came and caught his fur, he smiled, a nice feeling going through his whole body before he turned around to walk up the hill again, only looking back down on the saplings once he was at the top. Then he heard a neigh in the distance where he had come from. Ears pinning forward, tail wagging like an excited dog for a moment. He knew that neigh, way too well, he’d be able to hear who it was even in his deepest sleep. I’m coming mate, he thought and with that, he took off into a canter. Hooves once again loud on the ground underneath him, but this time fresher air and scents filled his nostrils and lungs.
