The truth? Only the same stallion must know. — Many moons before… A mare, as beautiful as she was elegant, prepared to give birth to a foal. She was, to everyone that laid their eyes on her, the most beautiful mare in the land. Her coat shone under the sun. It was of vibrant colors, decorated by spots that resembled the light passing through the leaves. She looked as if she had been a tribute to life itself. It was, because of this, no surprise that the king, a strong stallion with a rich colored coat of reds and blacks, had chosen her as his spouse. She had decided to stay with the herd, with her king, in this important moment. As the soon to be born baby wouldn't be just any foal, but the next leader. She used to be a lively one, or so they said. But such frivolities had been forgotten with time. Instead, growing sour, or as others would describe her… Into a proper leader. But, when the baby came… The foal was of a pitch black coat, with little light rings around its eyes. It had inherited his dam's grey, as these were signs that it would lighten with time. It also had a tiny spotted blanket covering its body. A blanket leopard pattern. But this was not all. The part that made its mother gasp in horror and its father grow angrier by the second… The foal had markings left by death itself. A large skull shaped marking on its face of a striking white. Accompanied by broken rib like markings on its side. They must have been cursed, the king said. To have a baby that clearly communicated the death and demise of their kingdom. No one could find out about this…
