Marriage To a King
Cloven hoof clip clops echo down a long, eerie corridor reflecting years of ancient stories from long-lost traditions that are never spoken again in the allies of silence and despair, under the flickering light from the flaming torches carry years of burden-worth prescribed eons. "So, you decide to marry me, for what? A pension of wealth? Do you consider me lucky enough to fancy a mare like YOU?" A voice carried outside from a door, the hooven clip clops echo louder, louder, louder--now they're running down the stone walls built from tension of work-hard Veilhorns that never had ever gotten a break notice once the construction into the castle began. "Or are you just seeking a destination away from something else?" The voice is tough, hardy, yet fool-hardy as well. They are ecstatic, but calm and easy going to woo passerbys into thinking this is just a wanna-be-husband talking to his wanna-be-wife, but this is not an average marriage. No, a willing marriage into something else. Something darker. "I never considered you humiliative before, Verheim." A mare spit back at the stallion's decisive attitude towards her, she does not want her soon-to-be husband getting ahead of himself nor ahead of her plans either. She does not want him trying to take advantage where she had set the boundaries before. "In any case, you're just lucky that no one really knows me enough to come search for me." She muttered in a growl. The former cloven hoof clip clops came back, now slowing down as the mysterious Veilhorn travels towards the door, opening it slowly as it reveals a tanpoint buckskin stallion with curved, blue-green fading horns conversing with a black splash mare with a medium-length golden horn. She's wearing a fancy robe, decorated in jewels, she wears a mask of indifference towards her husband; likely hiding all the true emotions to make way for her persona instead. The mare's mane had been braided down with rose flowers placed in the main part of her neck, the top of her dock and tail hair has also been braided down with rose flowers as well, the end of the tail hair ends in a blooming rose. "You're highness and majesty." A voice broke the tensely, loving atmosphere; someone truly loves and someone truly hates each other on the husband-wife spectrum here. Anyways, the Veilhorn came barging into the main chamber room, the stallion and mare duo turn their heads towards a guard reporting to the new couple. "What? Spit it out, and then I can marry my wife afterwards." The stallion leans his body closer to the mare, whom tried to bite him for making her title bear weight even more on her, she'll be a Queen and the stallion: A King. A very important king. The stallion only chuckles before death glaring his wife, a very complicated marriage it will be. "The kingdom walls crumbled, the invading army of the south has barged in and eliminated half of our army." The guard reports, his horn; broken, dismayed, with dried blood and a core of magic still intact, is spewing out sparks of magic as the magic is holding the guard's sword. "And the king of the west demands that you let Espresso go, for she didn't do anything wrong for a nobody-mare. She doesn't deserve to be dragged into war. Your war, your highness." The stallion looked surprised for a split second, schooling his expression seconds later after his initial surprise, he huffed before grabbing a golden sword that had been encased in obsidian; his teeth barring fangs that broke the compact, hardy, and impossible-to-break-through obsidian rock itself that was forged to hold the golden sword in. "I shall smite ALL THOSE THAT IMPOSE ON ME, MY WIFE, AND MY KINGDOM: THE INVADERS SHALL DESERVE DEATH AS A PEACE TREATY!" The mare watched as her wanna-be-husband gallop through the wall of their chamber room, the exploding rock hitting the other walls as the King runs down to the attacking armies, she only sighs before grabbing her scepter that's mounted on the wall; gently picking it up with her mouth before controlling it with her magic. "I guess that I shall aid my soon-to-be husband then, after all, even if I hate him. He's still my husband." The guard nodded as he turned, guiding the soon-to-be wife down the spiraling staircase of stone steps, past the Three Headed Serpent of Impending Doom, past the Treasury and vault rooms. Then the guard pushes the door open with his head, his armor clanking as an arrow narrowly misses his shoulder blade when penetrating through the reinforced, golden, armor. "Traitor!" He calls to a young mare holding a bow and arrow with her teal magic, who has been hiding behind a square cubed piece of the wall, she giggles before shooting at a nearby Veilhorn of the enemy line; down goes the invading general, the arrow shot past the heart, an instant death without much thought to it. The mare gently took a deep breath as she scanned the surroundings: downed Veilhorns either hers or the enemy armies is not clear, blood spewing left and right as they fight to the death, explosions of magic-in fused bombs made from dragon scales landing in areas on the already-destroyed courtyard of the King's castle. As the mare froze when hearing a nose, her ears perked up and swiveled to the sound of her soon-to-be husband, she turned her head and saw her husband jumping into the air after escaping a struggle of downed Veilhorns that toppled on top of him to try and kill him. To stop his plans. But it did not work. "I shall not rest until you all are killed!" He screamed, the mare's husband then landed down onto the ground, an explosion of magic suddenly impending on everything: time froze for a short second as the mare widened her eyes in slow motion. The feeling of being put into a slowed down time cycle is not very pleasant, she's meant to do something fast, she's always done something fast. She lost many friends and allies that way, but she made it no less. "Death to the nations surrounding my home!" The stallion screamed once more, the sound of a dragon's roar is obvious, then time dropped back to normal as a giant winged beast landed down behind the mare's husband. The serpent has four wings, two heads, spikes along from the snout to the double-tails, eight legs also spiked and long claws just out from the fingers and toes. One dragon head roars up and the other starts spewing fire as the stallion used a barrier to protect himself while the fire reached others, only the ones using a barrier are part of the King's kingdom and castle. The others are enemies that lose their barrier protection when entering Verheim's province. And a province that won well. Ending a treaty, earning himself only more enemies, Espresso only sighs when seeing the documents of declaring war on her husband; it will be a long century of death and conquering for her and her husband, whom she couldn't stop him from claiming her as his mate. His. And only his...

Welcome to my wonderful world where I created Espresso, a mare whom is the main protagonist, and Verheim is the antagonist (now Espresso's husband and sire to their 11 children.) Come and read the stories more! (Which are technically chapters when I make them, my author-habit does not escape me whatsoever lol!) ^^
