Veilhorn Steed

Someone You Forgot

After wandering around for days on end, never stopping for a break or to rest, Orabarous entered a village, a small little one that can hardly be located as it's isolated from major trails and paths that connect to roads, that connect to the Golden Circuit, which connect to every kingdom, empire, and army currently in existence.

Orabarous' eyes were frenzied as they searched around for someone special, the village was lax and calm the opposite from it's genuinely excitable atmosphere, though he kept passing by other Veilhorns to look for the one that he wanted to find, to nuzzle her memory into his head again.

Instead, when he found the exact hut he was looking for, mind that this village was still a bit primitive due to the area they were in, they weren't around nearby kingdoms in the Desert Wastelands as they were a tough village that adapted well with their magic allowing them to adapt easily.

Orabarous was from this village.

As Orabarous entered the hut, his nose immediately picked up the lingering scent of his special someone, looking around the deserted cozy home in the entire village provided no one was currently home, not while they've been gone for quite a while.

He snorted and backed out of the hut, looking around for the chief as he wanted to know what happened while he was last here two months ago on his monthly/yearly visit to his old home. And his eyes spotted the chief walking with a young mare and her foal back to their own hut for security, so he started his gallop over to the chief. Mind ablaze with thoughts.

The chief watched as the mare and her foal entered the hut, turning around only to meet Orabarous eye-to-eye and up close no less either, it did not surprise him nor did it with Orabarous.

"Where's *********?" Orabarous asked the chief, tilting his head curiously for an answer that'll satisfy his worries about his special someone, though the jittery nerves were still abundently clear coming from his shoulders and withers.

"She's at the cemetery." The chief answered Orabarous' question about the special someone, the other stallion's eyes were wide as he watched the chief go back to his duty. A calmer atmosphere meant they were still coming back from--no, Orabarous shook his head at the impending thought forming. He will go to the cemetery for her.

When Orabarous ran hard and fast to the nearest cemetery, which was Wills Creek Kingdom's cemetery, the only cemetery who houses passed Veilhorns not from the kingdom itself, he didn't stop to get checked by the guards or the doctor waiting. No.

No instead he ran past all four Veilhorns, the guards shaking their heads and letting themselves rest before they started after Orabarous, chasing the stallion as he ignored everything for the cemetery to see his special someone. Someone he forgot entirely before remembering her, how could he? She was important to him!

The stoneware changed into dirt again, Orabarous slowed down with his eyes locking onto the grave in the back first section of the big burial site, he approached slowly and cautiously to the grave; her name written in it all. He lifted his head, eyes staring at the gravestone still, then he allowed himself to lower and curl around the headstone peacefully. Tears marching down from his eyes to his cheekbones in a solemn serenity.

The guards never approached the cemetery, staying outside it as they watched Orabarous silently cry in private. Wrapped around the gravestone, the guards soon disappeared altogether...

Orabarous looked up when he started to awaken from his unconscious sleep that he didn't resist, he had endured enough already and his special someone dying put too much on his wits, thus he fell unconscious from crying at the gravestone he wrapped himself around.

But when he fluttered his eyes for the second time, a ghostly spirit of the robin egg color, a great smokey color faded off from the spirit and acting as the hair; elongated and wispy. Once lively now float freely without the use of magic.

"Why do you weep, my love?" An echolic voice asked Orabarous, the spirit lowered herself to Orabarous resting position from which he started to wake up further, and Orabarous looked up at the spirit of a mare bring her muzzle over to him. "Do not weep for me."

"Why shouldn't I weep for you? I never knew you died, you never sent me a letter of goodbye. I never got to say goodbye to you--both of you." Orabarous' sat up in a resting position instead of a sleeping position now, getting more attentive the more he's awakened from his sleep further.

"Because I have run my race, even as young as I was, there was just no way it could've been prevented." The spirit mare spoke to Orabarous, answering his question about her leaving his side for good this time.

"I tried to prevent it though. But I--" His words were cut off from his lips, as the mare spirit leaned in and wrapped her head around his withers to calm down his unsteady and and flittering nerved body.

"Didn't make it." The mare answered for Orabarous, shushing him into a lax state, removing her head from his back as she nuzzled her head and his head, both of their eyes closing as the background swirled and faded behind them.

"I'll always love you, you know."

"I know."
