Veilhorn Steed

Two stars

Freed from the burdens of her duties, Myrrhmyr was finally able to enjoy the festive cheer. A celebration being held by an esteemed co-worker proved to be a much needed respite from the chaos of magical damage control and containment. While she would’ve preferred to have the party stay completely inside, it wasn’t her celebration and it was true that the aurora that painted the skies above was gorgeous. While the air was too nippy for her liking, Myrrh was able to still enjoy the sky from the safety of a balcony all while draped in the heaviest and softest of fur coats. An expense she gladly can afford for such terrible weather. Though of course the natural phenomena wasn’t the only thing in the sky. Down below, she watched as some wayward apprentices added to the visual display with their own sparks of magic. The actions further distorted the colorful air and left it shimmering, though she did think it too much. Eventually it would start to look like an abstract modern art piece if layered on too thick. So rather than burning her numerous eyes watching the antics she turned back inside to enjoy the party, sipping a glass of champagne in the meanwhile. While she would readily intermingle with the other guests for the rest of the night something, or rather someone came to her attention. A glimpse in the corner of an eye, a movement too fast to be normal. It caught her gaze and curiosity and she was too intrigued to not follow its path. Winding through halls and corridors she treaded along carpets until she was greeted by a familiar face, one that had intentionally led her outside now that she had noticed. “Chapel! Hun. I didn’t expect to see you here, especially not at a party like this, with your blindness making navigating people a nuisance as you put it.” It was strange seeing the other horse here given the circumstances, though given they worked with each other it wasn’t totally unanticipated. “Well it is a party hosted by someone of such esteem. It would be rude not to go, especially when they bother to send an invite in braille specifically.” “They actually bothered to do that? Damn. Here I thought they just didn’t care about accommodating special needs.” “Oh they don’t actually care that much, but I overheard their spouse ripping them a new one at some point about that a while ago.” Myrrhmyr couldn’t help but snort at that, the mental image of their coworker’s own spouse getting on their ass about their ableist tendencies being quite funny to them. “Serves them right. May have prestige but not everyone will sit back and keep quiet.” “Mmhmm.” “I know you didn’t intentionally catch my eyes just to make small talk. You want to do something, don't you Chap?” “Mmmmmmmhmmmmmm.” “Tell.” “Wanna go aurora hopping?” “Aurora hopping. Who are you and what have you done with Chip Chap.” “I’ve taken their soul and threw it to Orenfall shores so I can feel the weightlessness of the sky beneath my hooves.” “Of all things for you to suggest I’m surprised it’s that. You hate not feeling the ground. Didn’t you say it freaks you out?” “Yes but not when I’m alone it doesn’t… So do you want to?” “Yes obviously.” It was a no brainer for Myrrh. While she had to restrict her magic for official business more often than not, she could sneak by with a couple of tiny violations here and there. Aurora hopping just so happens to be one of those little things she can make an excuse for. Especially when Chapel of all people was asking to do it with her. So going outside despite the undesirable weather was a given now that she agreed to this, and sending the two of them flying into the sky with nothing but their magic had been the inevitable conclusion to their shenanigans. The sensation of the aurora beneath their hooves felt similar to both air and water at the same time, with the magic in the air allowing it to solidify below them into something tangible. It was a truly wonderful thing to experience, especially as they began their little horseplay, hopping from one aurora to another in a grand chase between the two of them. Stars and colors lit up their steps with each stride, bathing them in a sea of whimsy as they ran with the clouds. A wondrous experience that they shared with each other until it was ended with a poof of snow and fluff as they softly landed in a pile upon the earth. “Hah! That was great. I always enjoy being with you.” “Yeah Chapel. Me too.” (791)
