Veilhorn Steed

Really? Dragons?

Of all the wretched things to get past the defenses it had to be dragons. Dragons. For Myrrh the monstrous little creatures only ever brought trouble and destruction wherever they went. While sure, some were decently tolerable and cute, that was only in the case of socially domesticated dragons. In this case they weren’t cute nor tolerable. In this case they were menaces who, in their ridiculous desire to hoard and keep everything glittery and shiny for themselves; had stormed into a local town, stole as much as they could be it ribbons or actual money, had incited panic, caused immense damage to infrastructure in relation to the larger ones and then fled with their ill gotten goods without a care for whoever was injured in the process. All and all she didn’t like them, and as was her duty, it was her responsibility to neutralize a threat when it presented itself. Especially any magical threats like that of dragons. So with a squad of defenders at her back and another fellow mystic on board she and her cohorts tracked the ill mannered creatures as best they could to their less than subtle hideout. The entrance to said hideout being covered in both pretty little things and the bones of unfortunate creatures alike. “This is gross. Is that a half eaten deer corpse just sitting there?? Really?” Myrrh huffed at her companion’s comments, glancing at the messy meal half frozen in the snow. “We are dealing with dragons hun. Of course the creatures are going to be unsavory, that's just… how they are. As it stands though we are likely about to be far worse than the little beasts soon. Given the amount of damage and injury the things caused in their little raid of all shiny, they’ve made themselves an obvious danger and as such we need to remove them. Permanently if possible.” While she would like not to get covered in viscera from this endeavor, it stood to reason that the moment they made their move her group was going to get into the middle of the fight whether they liked it or not. Of course they had to actually discover exactly where the dragons opted to hide in here. Which meant going inside a cave. Inside a dark cave. Inside a very dark cave with what looks like various levels of consumed animal corpses and just an ungodly amount of glittery what has it’s packed wherever the little flying rats felt was good enough. While she would’ve preferred traversing through it using her own inherent capabilities, the light from lanterns rather than a light spell was a decent enough substitute in order to conserve energy. Especially since that energy was swiftly put to use along the journey inward when a few of the littler dragons had not gone that deep inside and were waiting to come back out for another trip outside. Myrrhmyr was thankful for her lack of mane at that point, as she and her companions quickly dispatched the lizards but not before they got off a couple bursts of flame to them. Had she actually had hair it would’ve certainly caught flame from the small blast, but having eyes cover most of her body made it so that having hair was less ideal and as such removed. With the last one felled beneath her hoof she wiped her foot off with a rag she had packed, side stepping the now permanently immobile body to go forward. “I would hope the main event will be as easy as that was but I doubt we’re going to get lucky.” “What makes you say that Myr? Most of the dragons during the attack were only… maybe just a little smaller than a horse?” “Most. Not all. Some hoofful of them were much larger than the average horse. One is also reportedly even far larger than that. Hence why we’re here as a group of ten rather than just two mages.” “Ah…” While she didn’t want to worry, Myrrh knew that the largest of the dragons recounted by the victims was likely a den mother. If encountered in the midst of exterminating what was likely her offspring there would be no doubt to the rage that would follow in her wake. It would be even worse if said mother discovered the corpses of her wyrmlings but not the culprits. In such a case it would become a hunt between them and her which was worse than direct discovery given how much trickery the largest of dragons could pull against those that have earned their ire. So taking her teke she gently grasped the dead dragons and threw them through a portal that was already preconnected to another somewhere else. While she’d get questions as to why she threw dead dragon bodies through the network, nobody would complain much about the parts gathered from the spoils. Once disposed of, Myrrhmyr's group would trek further and further in, dispatching and disposing of more and more dragons as they did so until they could find the primary chamber of the caves. By that point they would be scuffed up and somewhat injured. A couple of lucky hits by a few sudden ambushes leaving her bleeding from the legs but at least she hadn’t lost any eyes. It was as finished up their most recent skirmish did they hear the sound of trills and roars. A deep reverb echoing through the walls of the tunnel they were in that shook them through their hooves. With that they had little time to clean up their mess as they trekked closer to its source, hiding behind rocks while Myrrh prepared to cast her sight outward. A mere glimpse of a disguised floating eye revealed her biggest worry, a den mother sitting upon a fortune surrounded by several dozen dragons that clearly possessed some of the stolen goods from the raid. While it wasn’t the worst circumstance it certainly could’ve been better. What mattered now though was getting the fight started and over in as little time as possible. “Is everyone ready?” Myrrh didn’t need to say more for them to nod in agreement. “Alright then. Move forward and strike.” Within five seconds she’d set alight the sky, within ten her comrades would charge forward to surprise the enemy and within thirty an earth shattering roar would shake the earth around them as the fight began. And boy was she ready for it. (1078)
