Template Customization
These are the rules for customizing your character's mane and tail on the design template. If unsure, you can always use the default mane and tail lines for each bloodline.
Mane customization
Mane rules:
- The mane can be in any style and texture (such as straight, wavy, curly, braided, etc.) as long as it looks like hair and not a mutation or trait your character doesn't have (For example, the mane is not allowed to look like fins or feathers). Partially or fully bald is also allowed.
- The mane must follow the ranges on the examples below. Your character can have as fluffy hair as you want, as long as it does not obscure the neck or more than the allowed range of the forehead.
- The mane may not have accessories. You can use equipment to add accessories after the design has been approved.
- Unless your character is bald, the mane should be positioned in such a way that design-staff reviewing the design can tell what colour it is (and if any markings or genes are affecting parts of the mane).
- The mane is not allowed to obscure the horns. The mane may obscure the outer horn only if the character has two forehead horns (so the horn on the near side is still fully visible - the outer horn can be partially hidden behind the mane).
- If the outer ear is fully obscured by the forelock you can use either the template's head miniature or body miniature (or both) to show what colour/pattern the hidden ear has. This is only really needed if the hidden ear has a different colour or pattern than the visible ear, otherwise everyone will safely assume that both ears are identical.

Mane range
The mane isn't allowed to obscure more of the body than the green area shown in this example. This means there may not be strands of hair obscuring the neck, and the forelock may only cover a sliver of the forehead.

Default mane example
The default mane lineart is within the allowed range on the forehead/ear.

Hairline range
The hair may, at maximum, only grow from the green-lined range on the example. This means you can not have a forelock starting further down the forehead, or mane growing on the back/spine past the withers. You can of course have a shorter range, if the mane is partially shaved.

Default mane example
While the hair strands themselves can extend further than the start and end on the hairline range, the hair "roots" are still starting within the allowed range.
Tail customization
Tail rules:
- Each bloodline has its own tail rules that must be followed, you may not use the tail of one bloodline for another. You may also not use other bloodlines' tails as mutation features. For example if you have a Deneb with Aquaris mutation, it is not allowed to have an elongated fish tail, and you may not use Marean's tail for your Deneb character. Likewise if you have a Deneb with Plumage mutation, you may not use Alcyone's tail for feathers.
- The tail may not have accessories. You can use equipment to add accessories after the design has been approved.
- The tail is not allowed to be amputated/docked/broken. (Scars, amputations, etc. are allowed on art and reference images after the design has been approved.)
- The tail is not allowed to cover or obscure the body or the legs.
- The tail needs to be visible. If the tail is very long and bending behind the other side of the Veilhorn's body on the template it needs to go behind the legs (not behind the chest/barrel) so that it is still as visible as possible.
- Each character can only have one tail. If you wish to have a many-tailed appearance you can always add this as a spell-effect after the design has been approved.
- The tail is not allowed to mimic other bloodlines or try to appear as a different bloodline. Some mutations (such as Wulf covering an Elwyn's tail, or Aquaris fins on a Wyrm's tail) can make it visually hard to distinguish from a Panthera or Marean, but as a general rule for non-mutation designs it must be easy to distinguish what bloodline your character belongs to.
- Just because something isn't explicitly written as forbidden, doesn't mean it's allowed. Each character's tail must fit their bloodline, and should not deviate from it. You can use shapeshift spells to alter your characters form after the design has been approved.
Specific bloodline tail rules:
In addition to the general rules, each bloodline has the following tail customization rules:
- Deneb can only have normal horse tails.
- Deneb can not have donkey tails.
- The tail can be bald or have hair. The tail (haired or not) may not be shorter than the Deneb default template's tailbone. You may draw your own tailbone if you wish to pose it differently, but custom tailbones may not be shorter or longer than the default tailbone.
- The hair on the tail can be any length and style, but needs to look like hair (not fins, feathers, etc.).
