Genetics

Genotype options:

Appearance

Mottle causes white spots of varying sizes anywhere on the body. The size can be anywhere from as small as freckles to large spots similar to leopard appaloosa.

Mottle can go anywhere on the body but doesn't have to cover the entire coat, it can be limited to a single area such as spotting only on the neck.

Mottle always affects mane and tail where it touches.

At minimal expression mottle needs to have a handful of white spots present, even if they are small.

Minimum requirement:

  • At least a handful of white spots somewhere on the body.

Minimum requirements can be reduced or completely removed by the occlusion trait.

Allowed:

  • Can be spread evenly on the coat or gathered in a single area.
  • Can be very small, or as large as the size of the hoof.

Not allowed:

  • Spots may not be larger than the size of a hoof.

Eye colour: Light blue

Optional: Optionally allows light blue eyes.

Skin colour: Mottled

Mottled

Skin on areas affected by white markings must be light peachy pink or a lightened version of the natural skin colour. Can optionally have mottled/spotted skin even if no white spots are near. Mottled skin can also have small freckled holes in white markings.

Horn/hoof colour: Striped

Striped
Striped

Lightens naturally coloured horns and hooves where the white markings touch. Optionally lightens elemental/mutation horns and hooves. Can optionally be striped even if no white spots are touching.

Clumping is an optional effect of Mottle

The minimum requirements of Mottle must still be met regardless if Clumping is shown or not.

Clumping is not listed in the phenotype, a Mottle with Clumping is still only written as Mottle.

Appearance

Mottled spots can clump together and form any pattern, as long as they are still recognizable as clumped spots and not stripes/markings with "clean" straight edges.

Eye colour:

Affects eye colour the same way mottle does.

Skin colour:

Affects skin colour the same way mottle does.

Horn/hoof colour:

Affects horn and hoof colour the same way mottle does.
